This building, Palacio Borolo, was designed to reflect the 3 leves of the after life – hell, purgatory and heaven – as illustrated in Dante's Divine Comedy. The first 7 floors represent the 7 layers of Hell. Where the ceiling stops is the 14th floor, Purgatory. To get any higher than that floor, you have to take the stairs. Elevators don't go to "Heaven"….it's a test. I'm in a lighthouse, staring into the light itself. The man who commissioned this building, put the lighthouse at the top in order to communicate with his brother in another city across the bay like 600km away.
